Play / Child Psychologist Position (Part-Time / Full-Time)
Firefly Counselling and Consulting is looking for a Registered Psychologist or Provisional Psychologist with a primary interest in working with children ages 5 years to 17 years. While priority will be given to booking child/teen clients, the caseload will be rounded out with adults.
Firefly Counselling highly values clinicians who are focused on developing their skills sets. As a result, we will only consider clinicians who are either certified with the Canadian Association of Play Therapy (CAPT) or the America Association of Play Therapy (APT), or in the process of certifying with one of these associations. Applicants must have either the Green Stream from Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute or the foundational Level 1 Foundational Training with the APT, as a demonstration of their commitment towards skill development and future certification.
To assist in further developing Play Therapy skills and the achievement of certification as Play Therapist, Firefly Counselling may off onsite Play Therapy Supervision by a certified Play Therapy Supervisor at an in-house rate.
Child and adult clients will be dealing with a range of issues. While Firefly Counselling and Consulting is known for its work with victims of trauma, many of our clients are dealing with depression, anxiety, learning difficulties, stress, addictions, communication issues, school/workplace challenges, self-esteem, and self-identity challenges. Preference will be given to clinicians who also bring skills and training in:
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) (as per Sue Johnson’s work)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

At Firefly you will be one of a growing team of Play Therapists who are led by a Certified Play Therapist/Certified Play Therapy supervisor with 20+ years of experience. Firefly Counselling has three new, equipped play therapy offices within the clinic.
